September Dance Features Eddie Perez
Edwin (Eddie) Perez, Owner and Chief Instructor for Salsabroso Dance Instruction has been teaching Authentic New York Style Mambo/Salsa, Chachacha, Merengue, Bachata and other Latin Style dancing for the past 30 plus years in the North East (New York City, Connecticut and New Jersey).
Born in The Bronx NY, he started playing Latin Percussion at the age of 12 and has progressed to the dance instructor he is today.
While playing for local bands in and around NYC his family has constantly played Mambo music in his household around the late '60s, early '70s.
Around the age of 13 while playing congas his older family (especially his two older sisters, Olga and Irma), would try to encourage him to get from behind the drums and try to dance.
It didn't take long for Eddie to see that he had some talent to dance and from then on Eddie has studied dance, winning numerous awards in competitive Salsa dancing.
In the '80s Eddie met Eddie Torres, who is called "The Mambo King", and started taking formal dance lessons. He has taken lessons with the famous New York studio DanceSport, run by champion Tango dancer Paul Pelicoros, Rico Santo and a plethora of other dance studios. That's when he found his calling as a dance teacher.
While taking lessons with Eddie Torres, he decided to become an actual scholar of the dance and became an avid student of other forms of dance such as Ballroom Style dancing (fox trot, paso doble, etc.), after which he decided to make his forte Authentic New York Style Mambo/Salsa On1 and On2.
Eddie moved to Florida in 2007 and has taught at various studio and nightclubs in the Tampa Bay Area, sharing his enthusiasm to a cornucopia of students from all walks of life. With his charismatic way of teaching, students have learned Salsa and he has been told, on more than several occasions, that he has really reached them and changed their life!
Now teaching at various locations throughout the Tampa Bay area, Eddie is willing to share his knowledge and expertise with anyone interested in Latin dancing, bringing his 30+ years of experience to the public.
